FC Consultant's electrical cable protector:

Blasted cable damage is certainly one of the most common production delays and profit losses experienced on a daily basis by the mining industry. And with copper prices soaring to its al time high on the global market, one can not afford this expensive, re-occurring incident anymore. Therefore FC Consultant took the initiative to look for an alternative / solution, resulting in the fabrication of the electrical cable protector.

The electrical cable protector is fabricated from 8mm wall thickness HDPE pipe, which is divided into two equal halves. The HDPE pipe is joint with rivitted nylon bands at the one end, resulting in a scissor type action, that allows the user to assemble the product around the electrical cable. The HDPE pipe is then easily enclosed around the electrical cable by means of nylon straps that ties together at the other end.

What is HDPE?

High-Density Polyethylene(HDPE) or PolyEthylene High-Density (PEHD) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1.75 kilograms of petroleum (in terms of energy and raw materials) to make one kilogram of HDPE.

HDPE has little branching, giving it stronger intermolecular forces and tensile strength than lower-density polyethylene. It is also harder and more opaque and can withstand somewhat higher temperatures (120 °C/ 248 °F for short periods, 110 °C /230 °F continuously).
